Italian man dies in Austria after being hit by an avalanche. A 25-year-old man died on the Orobie Prealps.

He was in Marchfeld, Austria, for a mountain excursion with friends. An unexpected large avalanche, 250 meters wide, buried him under 1.60 meters of snow, and there was nothing that could be done for him. Federico Giubilato, a 41-year-old from Bassano del Grappa, in the Vicentino region, was due to turn 42 on Monday, March 30th, but on Saturday, March 28th, a slab avalanche caught him by surprise and left him no chance: his friends immediately alerted the rescue services, but upon arrival, they could only confirm the hiker’s death.

The accident occurred in the Zillertal valley. The 36-year-old friend who had called for help had managed to free himself alone, sustaining only a minor injury to his hand. The alpine rescue team, after approximately 30 minutes from the alarm, arrived on the scene with two helicopters and were able to locate the man in the snow after a short time. Once reached, however, all attempts at resuscitation proved futile.

Giubilato, a mechanical engineer graduated from the University of Padua, was passionate about extreme sports and often frequented the mountains for excursions with his friends. The man knew the mountain and its dangers, but the strong winds of the recent days in the Central Alps had increased the risk of avalanches on particularly exposed slopes, and the slab avalanche swept him over in full, during what was supposed to be one of the many excursions with friends.

The case of Giubilato is not isolated. Only a few hours after his death, another tragedy also occurred in Italy, where a 25-year-old man died on the Orobie Prealps, in Bergamo. He was hiking the trail leading to the Brunone refuge, in the territory of Valbondione, when, for reasons still to be ascertained, he fell approximately 100 meters. The alarm was triggered at 11:15, and the firefighters of Bergamo, the alpine rescue team, and the 118 helicopter rescue service of Bergamo arrived on the scene. However, the rescue efforts were in vain.

I heard this a week ago, and it was on the news again this morning. A baby was accidentally locked in a Cadillac Lyriq EV that had a faulty battery and the family could not open the vehicle or charge it.

Come to find out there's a key hidden inside the FOB, which allows you to open the trunk. They pulled the infant out through the trunk.

Losing power on a Cadillac is no joke. My mother has a Cadillac-- not an EV, and it has a key ignition. If the battery dies, and the key is in the ignition, you can't remove the key. The fob itself won't work if there's no power to the car. This basically means you can't lock the car in that situation and have to leave the key in the ignition. This is a problem if the car is away from home when it happens. I remember calling the dealership about it, and they said it was convoluted to remove the key without power and would not tell me how to do it.

My take-- NEVER EVER buy a Cadillac.
