Happy trans visibility day.

In spite of what reactionaries might think, I don't desperately need everyone to know I'm trans. I am fine, and was fine, with most anyone not knowing. I can't be misgendered and don't worry about my pronouns, but please do make that effort for others.

The reason why my visibility is for other trans people. I hope it helps them feel less alone. I'm proud to be a part of the trans community, who saw me when I was less visible, and always included and uplifted me. I will reciprocate as much as I can.

In the past few years, it only becomes more apparent I'm missing subtleties of transphobia. I can be really inconsiderate sometimes... but mostly, I don't feel guilt. I'm just doing my best to adapt to danger, because hate is more insidious than ever.

We must be vigilant. We must avoid defending our egos and our intent when asked to do things differently. We must always feel most defensive of whoever is most at risk.
