There are benefits to 1-1 sessions, for sure, but in these sessions, the conversations people have about voice, gender, sexism, social expectations, masking, safety vs expression, as well as the support and enthusiasm that radiates from every participant, for each other, is every bit as transformative as learning gender-altering voice techniques.

Recently, I've been co-running voice workshops for trans people, where we teach people to alter the gender of the voice and then give them semi-scripted exercises, and 'speed dating' style conversations to practice. I leave feeling so uplifted. I've always felt like voice training can often be this private embarrassing thing that people do on their own, and it's actually so powerful for people to work on their voices alongside other people.

Just watched The Prince by Abigail Thorn. So SO good! I thought the ending was slightly rushed, but my enjoyment of the actual meat of the play, and its general spark and originality more than made up for it. Such an interesting take on intergenerational approaches to transition and community, and expectations and misogyny and aaaaa
