On August 4th our comrade Emily was assaulted by 2 men, in her own neighborhood of Ypenburg. They kicked her and hit her on the head, on the basis of her being trans, after she noticed the writing hateful texts on streetlights. This occurrence is not new - these people have been putting up hateful far right stickers promoting LGBT+phobic and antisemitic rhetoric among other things. It has gotten to a point where Emily is forced to use the back door of her house in fear of her safety.
This attack is not isolated - many trans and queer people share similar experiences - there is a rise in attacks against trans people over the last few years, in the Netherlands and globally, physical ones but also ones on rights and healthcare. This trend is directly connected to the rising far right - Wilders, Trump, AfD in Germany - they use trans people, muslims, immigrants and other minorities as scapegoats and portray them as the source of problems in society, while at the same time they propose no solution to the real problems plaguing a majority of working people - ever increasing housing prices, a wave of violence against women, rising cost of living and so much more.
"Centre-left" and "liberal" parties, GroenLinks PvdA for example, are offering no alternative, and instead they prefer to invest in war while cutting on our welfare and do not even attempt to handle the troubles facing us. These austerity measures especially hurt trans people and other oppressed minorities. Additionally, they only serve to strengthen the far right who are presenting themselves as friends of the "average person".
For us to achieve trans safety and to guarantee rights, and for us to combat the far right, there is a need to build a mass struggle against the whole agenda of the far right that is promoting these attacks, and against the "centre" parties who are not offering any alternative. This mass struggle also needs to put pressure on union leadership to act and do what is expected of them - push back against attacks on working people, whether it be general ones on the whole or only on a specific group - an injury to one is an injury to all!
About us
After the attack on Emily we organised together as a group of friends and activists who look to make the streets safer from violence and stop far-right hate. We are hosting a march in Ypenburg to make a stand but this is just the beginning! We have a range of actions planned so stay tuned!

De terugkomst van Trump als president van de VS brengt het leven en welzijn van miljoenen trans mensen, vooral jongeren, in gevaar. We zullen waarschijnlijk veel meer depressie en suïcide onder trans en genderdiverse jongeren zien. En niet alleen in de VS.

OMG! Wat een droevigheid allemaal. En dat uitgezonden door het ooit zo 'linkse' #BNNVARA. 😭 Buiten dat die Van Roosmalen een immense lul behang is, krijgt 'Let Women Speak' (lees 'de Nederlandse Vereniging voor #TERF-nazi's') een podium van hem en blijkt het maar weer eens dat #VOLT een kwaadaardig naïve partij is! 😡
Eerst hebben ze er geen probleem mee wanneer de TERF's met de vrouwenmars meelopen en wordt glazig gekeken wanneer de TERF's transhaat uiten. Pas wanneer er een VOLT-foto gemaakt moet worden, ja dan moeten ze even weg met hun spandoekje. Tot slot bleek die hele mars van ellende uit elkaar te vallen, met als dieptepunt één of andere boomer* die gaat uitleggen waar VOLT voor staat (blijkbaar ook voor #LHBTQ+-rechten, uh ok… 🤔). Ook nog eens #hypocrisie ten top. Toe maar. 🙄

UPDATE!!! “Let Women Speak” heeft de locatie van hun demonstratie veranderd, wij gaan lekker met hun mee. De nieuwe locatie van de demonstratie is het Laan van Puntenburg, nieuwe verzamellocatie is Moreelsepark. Oh mensen, jullie hebben er op gewacht, jullie hebben er naar gevraagd, het is dan eindelijk zo ver. De derde editie van transfobe zogenaamde feministen die gaan praten, en natuurlijk, de derde editie van ons tegenprotest. We zullen weer verzamelen bij de kerk en we zullen weer naar park paardenveld lopen. En hopelijk wordt het dit keer niet barheet en ook niet barkoud, maar een fijne demonstratie temperatuur. Hopelijk zijn jullie er weer allemaal bij, dan gaan we weer lekker gezellig met ze allen naar het park.
