My education on Greek mythology is scant but there's an interesting page on Wikipedia about Orpheus. He was a musician so maybe a lute is indicated here?
I really enjoy Odilon Redon's work so much. There's something about color and texture and complexity that's amazing but it's not just that, there is always a relation to a figure or a scene which brings it into an experiential place for me. I am resting with my eyes closed, dead or dreaming, with whatever all that color and texture and contrast represents.
I wanted to note here that almost all of my art education has been on the internet and following blogs of other art lovers. I am deeply indebted to them for enriching my life, I want to keep that alive on the internet, this blog is about that. Thank you to all of you out there ❤️

Back to work today. This seems vaguely human-shaped which would make the messy top part the head and so maybe the mental state. It could be that the artist had something else in mind but that's my reaction to it. I love that they used gravel to get that texture.
