TransHub is an grass-root, volunteer-run organization promoting 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in the trans community.

One of our aims is to inform the trans community of their healthcare alternatives, following the therapeutic education idea that people need to 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞.
We believe that precise and well-sourced knowledge on all possible treatments is key to 𝐬𝐞𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and to reduce harm.
Not only do we defend bodily autonomy, but we also want to push this notion away from its liberal connotation and bring it back towards the self-organization of our transitions.
We also believe that "harm reduction" is not only about the harms related to a practice (medicating...), but the 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬. This is why TransHub is also developing a 𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝.

Someone I know had a gender-affirming surgery recently that was supposed to be covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. The surgery was done in two parts—one last fall, and one the following spring. It was always planned to be done as two parts; that is how the surgeon always does that surgery. (1/2)
