Going through the photos taken yesterday while travelling on #EuroCity #164 #Transalpin. The long consist was first hauled by one #ÖBB 🇦🇹 Class 1016/1116 #Taurus electric, then by two of them for the steep gradients on the #Arlberg line. Finally an #SBB🇨🇭#Re460 brought us, on time, into #Zurich HB.

The last run of the rake currently used on #EuroCity #163 #Transalpin. For the last time, it's a mixed consist of ÖBB 🇦🇹 and SBB🇨🇭cars. It includes the last #ÖBB full 40-seat #DiningCar where I enjoy breakfast. From tomorrow's timetable change on, the consist will essentially be composed of #SBB cars.

🚆🇨🇭 The #Transalpin is a classic of train travel in Europe! I took the #EC163 between Zürich HB and Graz Hbf 🇦🇹 with a seat in the panoramic car. This journey through the Austrian Alps 🏔️ is 9h 34min, a great opportunity to enjoy the stunning views and visit the dining car ☕🥐!

Auf den Weg zur #SFSCON nach Bozen.

Der #Transalpin (#Graz - #Zürich) führt keinen Speisewagen mehr und es ist anscheinend auch nicht geplant wieder einen für diese Strecke in Betrieb nehmen.  Die Speisewagen seien zu alt, zu wartungsintensiv und zu teuer.

Die Idee des mobilen Boardservice gefällt mir nicht, die belegen hier drei meiner geliebten Abteile der zweiten Klasse. Zum Glück hatte ich noch genug Zeit am Bahnhof um Proviant zu besorgen.

Going through the photos taken yesterday on board the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #EuroCity #Transalpin to #Graz. Because of track works further north, the train is diverted via #Villach, an occasion to enjoy some “faux cab-ride” views from the last car of the consist, as we travel along the scenic #Tauernbahn line.

Impressions from today’s ride along, and through, the Austrian Alps on board #EuroCity #Transalpin. Such a voyage wouldn’t be complete without lunch in the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #DiningCar, obviously.
