"TRAИƧA" is a new compilation album by Red Hot, the organization that was founded in 1989 to raise awareness about safer sex against the backdrop of the AIDS epidemic, with a secondary mission of changing the narrative around LGBTQ+ rights. @PasteMagazine's Matt Mitchell spoke to cofounder John Carlin and producers Dust Reid and Massima Bell about working with Sade, orchestrating the "dream ideas" of trans artists (think Laura Jane Grace working with Jayne County and Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo) and why it all matters.

"Everyone on 'TRAИƧA' is involved because they believe in the potency of trans voices. And the justice behind that is such a major, non-negotiable truth," writes Mitchell. "These artists, all 100+ of them who took part in this compilation, aren’t just covering songs for a benefit — they’re making a piece of art that challenges people to reconsider the comforts that are outside of their own."
