In general I’ve seen a huge rise in enbyphobia amongst trans people in trans spaces, often demanding separate spaces from non-binary people, being upset as being perceived as even adjacent to them, or in general seeing them as illegitimate because they are not “men” or “women.”
The amount of non-binary hatred I experience, passively and sometimes actively, has not gone unnoticed. I am not alone in this either. I know others who have complained about this. We know enbyphobia when we see it. You aren’t fooling anyone.
It is fine if you want to be seen as a man or a woman. But stop trying to shove us all into the binary boxes, or exclude us from trans spaces. Especially stop seeing us as illegitimate.
Every time I hear “trans women are women” I instantly hear “you’re non-binary so you aren’t even a real person, so shut up and let the real women talk, ok?” It isn’t that I even disagree with the sentiment, it is that I see the subtext behind that sentiment. I feel the exclusion. I feel that I am not considered “really” trans by enormous swaths of the trans community.
Non-binary people threw bricks at Stonewall so you could exist, too.
