Don't know why the Tyee thinks this is rare/unusual/'little known'. Investor-State Dispute Settlements are common. Imo they are added to agreements because #WTO courts are too fair. They allow rich people to sue every taxpayer in a country, and win because they are rich, not because they have merit.
