A full #tracktuesday session out on the railway path with a Moose fartlek. 5 reps of 3 minutes, 1 minute with 1 minute recovery between each rep. I was between 4:05/km and 4:10/km for the 3 minute reps (6:34/mile to 6:42/mile) and 3:54/km to 4:07/km (6:16/mile to 6:37/mile) tor the 1 minute reps.

Intended to be 6 reps of 1 mile, aiming for between 6:46 and 6:58 per rep, but I felt some hamstring twinges during the 5th rep and opted not to do the last one. Hit 6:51, 6:47, 6:47, 6:56, 6:50 which will have to do. One more session to go.

More railway path goodness for the penultimate #tracktuesday session of the block. The same session as four weeks ago: 4 reps of 1.5 miles with 800m recovery aiming for between 10:09 and 10:27 per rep. Hit 10:16, 10:16, 10:13, 10:14 which was a smidge slower than in December, but this was in extremely gusty conditions. I managed to drag myself through the full session, too.

It is Wednesday, and club is back this evening! But I moved my #tracktuesday workout to today, so headed out to the railway path hoping that it had been salted and that the commuters had broken up any ice.

The workout was 2 reps of 3 miles, targeting between 20:18 and 20:54 per rep. I got through the first mile of the first mile with no ice, then on the other side of Staple Hill tunnel it was sheet black ice across the full width of the path for at least 400m (as far as I could see).

So I turned around, came back the way I came and shuttled up and down the un-iced part of the path to get the session in. This gave me a handy downhill for the majority of the second rep and I finished with 20:33 and 20:30, rounding up to 11 miles for the full run.

Still watching the forecast for tomorrow to see whether Prom will be on and whether or not I can get there and back safely with #StormGoretti moving in.

Last #tracktuesday session of the year, 3 reps of 2 miles with 800m recovery between reps. Target time was between 13:32 and 13:56 per rep, but last week was a big one and I ended up at the slower end (and beyond) with 14:01, 13:51 and 13:50. The fastest I've done the session in over a year though, and something is better than nothing (I nearly bailed on the final rep, instead taking a break part way through so I could turn around and not end up too far from home in the cold).

12 miles in total, and I'd take that overall time for a half marathon right now, so not all bad.
