Working on IT is very thankless, that I can deal with, but having nightmares every week about a previous employer (3 years after leaving) is a kind of #PTSD that makes me wish I never signed up for this.
The best #job I've had so far was for a large #nonprofit where I think many of my colleagues were also #autistic, even if a lot of us didn't realize it. We had clear processes in place for doing everything, and we were empowered to enforce those processes among the rest of the organization. The processes made a lot of the work routine and automatic, and so it required minimal discussion or meetings. And no one wanted to have meetings! We figured most things out via email or IM. My role and the expectations for it were clearly defined. Some people might call it boring, but I excelled there! I thrived! ...Until my boss retired and the new boss tried to coerce me into illegally working overtime without getting paid for it. So I left, and while I don't regret leaving, I miss the clarity and structure of that old job, and I don't know how to find it again.
