#Bellingen has a #traffic jam problem. The 'CBD' ist stuffed. Shopping is a 'running the gauntlet' experience. No matter how much they will 'straighten the bends and widen country roads', there will be just more and more cars. Removing 'bends' from very steep and winding country roads is eliminating #biodiversity #habitat.
Where will all the cars go from the newly smashed in suburbs? (North Bank Road etc) Working hard to make it a #Nonplace.

They appear to be forcing people from #detachedHouses into #apartments without barely a nod to the highly appropriate #townhouse?

Its almost as though these #townPlanners are hoping to create a #permanentUnderclass. Do they think they cannot slip into that lowQuality living situation?

Govt wants to splurge and spend some newly-minted cash.

Rather than asking residents what they need for local #resilience. They've enlisted a bunch of #townPlanners to redesign local sporting facilities, with plans to axe, life preserving #trees, build #playgrounds where teens kick a ball (yes, its as stupid as it sounds), rearrange buildings, etc.

Its obvious the designers don't live in the area nor attend local #sports.

Funny how #townPlanners in #Australia keep pointing to #Europe as an example of #highDensity done right, and so they work on plans for 10-storey #highrise buildings. But many of these so-called "#planners" and #policyMakers are ***from*** Europe (#China to a lesser extent).

If #gentrification is so great, why didn't they stay there?
