Yesterday I completed the 160 km (100 mile) #TourdeBeara #cycling sportive. It tied my longest distance ride (#RingofClaire) and set a PB in elevation with 7690 ft of climbing.

The route took us past the Caha pass, and the Healy Pass (twice) and along the coast near Allihies. I had done most of the route before when I did the #RingofBeara, and it was nice seeing the sights again.

The weather was a mix of rain and sun, but mostly wet. My legs were dead at the end, but I did it!

Last Saturday I did a ride with the bike club from Dungarvan up to Mahon Falls and back. The route went past some stunning sea shore / cliffs views. Then we went into the hills, culminating with a view of Mahon falls.

The way down was tricky with a steep decent, rough road and mountain goats everywhere. The tail end of the ride had rolling hills (and one fairly large climb). The sun came out at the end, which was really nice.

Good training for the #TourdeBeara in mid September!

#3goodthings for August 10, 2025

1. Despite having to wake up at 3:30 am to catch an early morning flight, our trip back to #Cork went smoothly

2. My wife and I figured out an approach to a problem we've been discussing for months

3. Got in a 40 mile bike ride to help prepare for a 100 miler that I'm planning in September #tourdebeara. Rewarded myself with a delicious ice cream cone from the local shop
