All of #America's #taxpayers will chip in for a #freeway widening in #Oregon—more than half a billion dollars worth—so that local #drivers won't have to pay a toll to buy the extra lanes they'll use. The project pricetag has climbed to $6 billion (with a B).

I got notice of this from GoGet (I’m a member), along with the intel that car-sharing schemes don’t benefit from toll relief or registration discounts. A friend gave me the heads up last week about toll relief, and great that we have that in our extremely over-tolled city. But we need to preference alternatives to private vehicle ownership and driving - freedom from tolls would be a tiny but significant incentive.
