For #WildlifeWednesday, a #toad fwend we accidentally dug up in the #garden while installing the irrigation system. I'd dug up another one under the strawberries a few days earlier (or maybe it was the same one). We relocated it to a different flower bed, safe from our gardening shenanigans, and it quickly burrowed under the fern. Kiddo named it Elli. 😂 Hopefully, Elli likes the new spot and feasts on the snails that keep eating my hostas and zinnias.

I initially thought it was a common toad (the only one I knew), but those striking cat-like eyes belong to the common #spadefoot, also known as the #garlicToad as it exudes a garlic smell to fend off v̶a̶m̶p̶i̶r̶e̶s̶ predators (Elli didn't). 🐸
