Plante and the City seem to be propagating a false, misleading and dangerous discourse after underresponding and exacerbating the problem since taking office.

From ' own experiences of homelessness/housing precarity there's no shortage of effort spared by those in need to access the services the state promoting it having.

There is however a shortage of effort from service gatekeepers.
When someone experiencing homelessness/being unhoused has to deal with an hour of pouring out their heart to an intake officer just to have it dismissed and be told to completely start over at a different intake, abusive staff that lie about by when your application will be processed and never get back to you, wait lists supposedly so long they won't even add you to a waitlist for the waitlist, it's easy to fall into learned helplessness, and/or no longer want to affiliate with the state.

It's not as if the Plante administration has otherwise been leading the provision of services, safety, and resisting gentrification and displacement. Quite the opposite.

Damn. ' sorry to hear a report today of the passing of Norman "Norm" Laforce a couple of days ago.

' won't pretend to have known him at all well and will defer details and any better accounting to those who may be on here who knew him much better than this any of these user(s) but from this account's little knowledge and experience, able to report at this time: Norm first got involved as a skinhead handing local Nazis their asses while still a streetkid. He remained solidly antifascist and vocally anti-racist up until recently, at the least (though likely for the entirety of his remaining life), and acted as a mentor, and protector for younger generations, liked and respected by anglo-, franco-, and allophones alike.

Memories of him will be ones of respect, and not without some aspiration.
