@theorangeninja The AMD Embedded GX-series in older thin clients (like the HP t620 Plus) are still surprisingly capable for lightweight self-hosting. 8-15W idle, passively cooled, and you can usually grab them for $30-50 on eBay.

The real question is always SATA vs USB for storage expansion. Some thin clients have internal SATA headers, which makes them much more practical as always-on servers.

Smells like thin client...

So after presenting this to Tim for analysis, I managed to get Debian running on this. It's a Dell Wyse 3040, with a quad core Atom processor. Mine has 2 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of flash.

I had issues with my monitor not waking up to get into the BIOS, due to using a Displayport adapter, but the install was pretty straightforward.

Meinen HP ThinClient, den ich für die 25-Euro-NAS-Serie gekauft hatte, verschenke ich gegen Übernahme der Versandkosten.

Not to mention these are way more fiddly than #OpenThinclient or #PorteusKiosk when it comes to setup and maintenance, whereas a #ThinClient is easy to add as demand grows...

@adamsdesk @rasteri I am aware of "#Multiseat" as in 'providing seperate #Xorg sessions oer Keyboard, Mouse and Screen'.

But that is not what I was looking into.

@alcea @Codeberg @gitea @forgejo I'd see the basic point (aside of Codeberg) of Gitea/Gogs/Forgejo in the fact that you just self-host those things. Gogs/Gitea used to be Raspberry-Pi capable for average use. Grab what calls itself #thinclient these days and throw it on there, that'll get you more bang/W and less hassle updating.
