Ça ne va pas du tout dans la direction que j'imaginais (et je suis bête donc j'ai mis très longtemps à comprendre que c'était une réécriture de Cendrillon). Ça fait mal, c'est étouffant, c'est mal aimable, c'est un peu littéral mais très intéressant.

A ★★★½ review of The Ugly Stepsister (2025)
The earliest variant of the Cinderella story is from sometime between 7 BC and 23 AD. I prefer the version put forth by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm because of its darkness. Obviously, writer-director Emilie Blichfeldt must favor the Grimm version as well because this Norwegian film is anything but sweet. A widow named Rebekka marries a man named Otto hoping that he blending of the families will increase their individual wealth. Rebekka is the mother of two plain daughters, Elvira and Alma. Otto is the father of Agnes, a beautiful young woman. When Otto dies unexpectedly, they find out

Gonna check out #Bugonia after this and see if it lives up to the hype, as well. The premise seems okay.
