Recently watched Ken Loach's, The Old Oak, a film centred on a pub in northern England and how it, and the local community, deal with the arrival of Syrian refugees. Powerful and imbued with Loach's passionate sense of humanity, it's a great watch. It confronts working-class xenophobia but also its sense of togetherness and community. Solidarity, not charity, is the film's message.
