Locked Out Of The Tomb
Tamsyn Muir has remarked that one of the challenges of having made The Locked Tomb as a lifelong participant in fandom is that she cannot participate in or even look at the fandom that she created. That is, she is responsible for the existence of a fandom, and has chosen – for perfectly good reasons! – to avoid it.
I don’t think this is an abnormal activity, for any given author. Right now we live in a world where authors perhaps have to represent themselves in social spaces, and how they engage with that space largely up to the individual. I’ve dealt with a few successful authors on social media, but none I think of as being as successful as Muir is, and Muir has had dealings with the internet that seem to have led to her retreating from it.
