On 18 November 1985, The Jesus and Mary Chain released their debut album, Psychocandy.

Anti-pop yet pure pop at the same time, simultaneously raw and tuneful, and always on the distorted, reverb-heavy edge of what catchy alternative music could be.

Laying out the blueprint for dream pop and shoegaze as indie music moved into the future, while paying tribute to the oscillating 50s/60s scene between girl pop and garage rock.
