December 1980 saw the release of the debut EP "Future Shock" by New Zealand's The Gordons, offering a sound that would become much more prevalent in the years to come.

Enriching the alternative music formula with a lingering sonic harshness without losing the tunefulness, these DIY Kiwi underground legends are more and more getting their deserved historical recognition, alongside the era's more prominent pioneering US and UK acts.

The Gordons appeared out of (almost) nowhere in March 1980 to take the mantel of Christchurch's (and soon New Zealand's) loudest band; however they were more than just loud. It's the songs they created during their initial year and a half run that have fuelled the legend of the Gordons. Through blistering feedback and propulsive bass come visions of a dystopian future, and anti-regime anthems.
