I don't generally like superhero movies, TV series, or comics, with the exception of Watchmen (both the comic and TV series).
The Boys is also good. It has very dark humor and it's very gross, but what makes it really stand out is the accuracy of the political satire. The heroes are still silly and go through normal emotional tropes of superhero bullshit, but the villains, their character development, and their interactions are almost painfully realistic and good.
The Boys really nails the current zeitgeist.
They have near perfect timing somehow. Homelander is going nuts at the same rate as Trump. Both Trump and Homelander depicted as gods within the same week.
