Dopo l’annuncio da parte dell’Iran della chiusura dello Stretto di Hormuz perché “non sicuro” visti gli attacchi di Usa e Israele, domenica secondo Al Jazeera “almeno 150 petroliere, comprese navi che trasportano greggio e gas naturale liquefatto, hanno gettato l’ancora nelle acque aperte del Golfo oltre lo Stretto di Hormuz”. Due navi che lo stavano attraversando sono state colpite. Intanto il colosso danese della logistica Maersk ha deciso di sospendere il passaggio delle sue navi per ragioni di sicurezza. Lo stretto è un punto di transito chiave per il commercio petrolifero globale, attraverso il quale transitano un quinto del petrolio e del gas scambiati nel mondo, per cui si teme che la chiusura possa far esplodere i prezzi.
Una nave, ha reso noto l’agenzia britannica per la sicurezza marittima Ukmto, è stata colpita al largo delle coste dell’Oman, “da un missile sconosciuto sopra la linea di galleggiamento. Sebbene la sala macchine fosse stata inizialmente segnalata come in fiamme, ora è stato riferito che l’incendio è sotto controllo, l’equipaggio è stato evacuato ed è in salvo”.
