This 5 hour interview with Sean Barrett (aka nothings) is a gold mine for anyone who has played around with software rendered graphics and/or handwritten assembly!

I finally managed to release #uxnfloppy, my bootable x86 #uxn emulator

Try it out here: https://git.sr.ht/~gustav/uxnfloppy

Turns out Sid Meier wrote many of his early games in his own programming language, a #forth variant he called Sidtran :p

Among other things it made porting to the many architectures of the day easier.

Designer Notes: Sid Meier - Part 1

Episode 23. A game design interview podcast, from Soren Johnson of Mohawk Games.

I started using Chimera Linux last week. So far, it's been pretty nice. Some similarities with alpine and gentoo (it has a BSD userland and a 'world'-based transactional package manager), but is generally just working for my purposes. Also, seems pretty easy to make packages for. #theFurnace
#debian friends - how do you go about building software on debian that depends on more-recent versions of things that are in the debian repos? #theFurnace #dependencyHell

noodle.tal also runs at a high framerate now, but it doesn't demo very well since the mouse only appears to be smooth when I use the tiny trackpad on the device, which is very hard to use one-handed! Probably my ps/2 mouse driver that is at fault..

For my #DecemberAdventure, I've optimized uxnfloppy so that it runs at 60 fps most of the time at 640x480! Here is a video of bunnymark.tal running on the laptop. It can draw around 2000 sprites before it goes below 60 fps!

It's the week of the noodle(.tal)! After weeks of painstaking ps/2 driver trial and error, the Mouse device is now working in #uxnfloppy as well! @tbsp #uxn #osdev #theWorkshop #theFurnace

I finally completed the varvara Screen device yesterday (with a lot of help from the #uxn irc channel, mainly @neauoire)! not sure what's up with the physics in this demo, but look at those sprites :)

Spent the evening implementing basic support for varvara's screen device in uxnfloppy!
