Tel Aviv dichiara guerra anche al New York Times per un articolo che riporta abusi sessuali su detenuti palestinesi nelle carceri israeliane. “A seguito della pubblicazione di Nicholas Kristof di una delle menzogne più orribili e distorte mai pubblicate contro lo Stato di Israele sulla stampa moderna – si legge in un comunicato del ministero degli Esteri israeliano -, il primo ministro Benyamin Netanyahu e il ministro degli Esteri Gideon Sàar hanno ordinato l’avvio di un’azione legale per diffamazione contro il New York Times“. L’articolo “si basa su fonti non verificate legate a reti connesse ad Hamas. La fonte principale è l’Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, il cui fondatore Ramy Abdu ha legami documentati con alti dirigenti di Hamas. Questo non è giornalismo. È propaganda di Hamas, una distorsione della verità e dei fatti”, ha aggiunto il ministero degli Esteri.
L’articolo, pubblicato l’11 maggio, affronta il tema delle violenze sessuali subite da detenuti palestinesi nelle carceri e nei centri di detenzione israeliani dopo il 7 ottobre 2023. The main source is the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, the founder of which, Ramy Abdu, has documented links with senior Hamas officials. This is not journalism. It is Hamas propaganda, a distortion of truth and facts,” the Foreign Ministry added.

The article, published on May 11th, addresses the issue of sexual violence suffered by Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons and detention centers since October 7, 2023. The text is based on interviews with former Palestinian detainees, testimonies from lawyers, humanitarian workers, and reports from international organizations, and describes a presumed system of humiliation, torture, and abuse in some Israeli detention facilities, including cases of beatings, forced nudity, threats of rape, and sexual assaults.

LA NOTIZIA: Rubio a Roma per salvare l’alleanza tra Usa e Italia, messa in crisi dagli attacchi di Trump

Prosegue il delicato viaggio in Italia del segretario di Stato americano Marco Rubio, impegnato nel tentativo di ricucire i rapporti tra Washington e Roma, messi in crisi dalle bordate di Donald Trump contro Papa Leone XIV, accusato di essere “morbido” con l’Iran, e contro la premier Giorgia Meloni, rea, secondo il tycoon, di non averlo sostenuto nel conflitto con Teheran.
Una giornata fitta di incontri, iniziata con un faccia a faccia di un’ora alla Farnesina tra Rubio e il ministro degli Esteri Antonio Tajani. Al termine del colloquio, definito dalle parti “positivo”, il ministro ha tenuto un punto stampa durante il quale ha spiegato di aver detto al segretario di Stato Usa di essere “convinto che l’Europa abbia bisogno dell’America, l’Italia abbia bisogno dell’America, ma anche gli Stati Uniti abbiano bisogno dell’Europa e dell’Italia. Queste sono le relazioni transatlantiche: l’unità dell’Occidente è fondamentale”.

Noi incoraggiamo il dialogo”. Ma non è tutto. Il ministro ha raccontato di aver riaffermato anche la disponibilità dell’Italia a essere presente “con la nostra Marina Militare, una volta raggiunto un cessate il fuoco stabile, per lo sminamento e la garanzia della libertà di navigazione” nello Stretto di Hormuz.
Nel corso dell’incontro, ha aggiunto ancora Tajani, sono stati affrontati anche altri dossier, tra cui il Venezuela, “la questione di Cuba” e quella “dell’Africa mediterranea sulle materie prime”.
Al termine del summit, Rubio si è recato a Palazzo Chigi per incontrare la premier Meloni.

Le proteste scoppiano mentre l'India affronta la peggiore crisi energetica degli ultimi decenni; il governo è stato costretto a tagliare le forniture industriali nel tentativo di proteggere i consumi domestici ed evitare che le famiglie rimangano senza gas.

Da questo passaggio strategico transita circa il 20% del petrolio mondiale e del gas naturale liquefatto trasportato via mare.Un portavoce del Ministero degli Esteri ha dichiarato sabato che l'India ha richiesto un passaggio sicuro per 22 delle sue navi rimaste bloccate a ovest dello Stretto, dopo che l'Iran ha concesso a poche imbarcazioni indiane di transitare, in una rara eccezione al blocco navale.

On Sunday, March 15th, a wave of protests swept across India: residents and regional political parties organized demonstrations and road blockades in several cities, denouncing a serious shortage of cooking gas exacerbated by the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The protests erupted as India faced the worst energy crisis in decades; the government was forced to cut industrial supplies in an attempt to protect domestic consumption and prevent families from running out of gas.

Since February 28th, when the United States and Israel launched a bombing campaign against Iran, Tehran has almost completely blocked traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. AGI - Sono circa 94.800 gli italiani in Medio Oriente e nel Golfo Persico, di cui 9.400 turisti in Bahrein, Qatar, Emirati Arabi Uniti e Oman. Lo ha reso la Farnesina nel fornire un quadro preciso della presenza dei connazionali nella regione.
All'indomani dello scoppio del conflitto tra Usa e Iran, il ministero degli Esteri ha istituito la Task Force Golfo, che ha raddoppiato la capacità di risposta dell'Unità di Crisi, cui gli italiani che stanno cercando di rientrare possono rivolgersi per chiedere aiuto e che ha già ricevuto 13.500 chiamate, una media di 200 l'ora.
Per quanto riguarda il solo Golfo, 7.024 italiani si trovano negli Emirati Arabi Uniti, 1.256 in Oman, 1.009 in Qatar e 111 in Bahrein. A oggi, sono circa 2.500 i connazionali rientrati in Italia da Abu Dhabi, Riad e Muscat con l'assistenza della Farnesina. Questa mattina sono decollati da Muscat due voli diretti a Roma, con a bordo 249 persone.
