Una scossa di terremoto di magnitudo 4.5 si è verificata mercoledì mattina alle 07.05 alle pendici dell’Etna. La scossa è stata nettamente avvertita in almeno tre province della Sicilia Orientale: Catania, Messina e Siracusa. Il sisma è stato registrato dalla sala operativa dell’Istituto nazionale di geofisica e vulcanologia, Osservatorio etneo, di Catania. È stato localizzato invece a quattro chilometri di profondità l’epicentro, registrato sull’Etna, più precisamente a nord-ovest di Ragalna. Al momento non si segnalano danni a cose o persone.
Il sindaco di Catania, Enrico Trantino, ha annunciato che le scuole resteranno chiuse in via precauzionale nel capoluogo, per permettere i sopralluoghi alle strutture che ospitano gli istituti. Numerosi comuni della provincia catanese hanno scelto di adottare la stessa misura, messa in atto dal primo cittadino di Catania. Il dirigente generale della Protezione civile della Regione Sicilia ha disposto l’attivazione immediata di un monitoraggio telefonico per raccogliere segnalazioni e verificare criticità presso tutti i comuni in cui è stata avvertita la scossa. Agi: Terremoto a Catania, la scossa 4.5 avvertita anche a Messina

AGI - È di magnitudo 4.5 la scossa di terremoto registrata a 3 km nord ovest di Ragalna (Catania), stamane alle 7:05. Il sisma è stato localizzato a una profondità di 4 km dalla sala operativa dell'Osservatorio etneo.
La forte scossa ha svegliato Catania e molti comuni della provincia. Il sisma è stato avvertito anche a Messina, nella zona Sud della città. La prima stima provvisoria è stata pubblicata sui canali social dell'Ingv, l'istituto nazionale di geofisica e vulcanologia.
Sospensione delle attività didattiche e monitoraggio
A seguito della scossa di terremoto avvertita anche a Catania, con una magnitudo di 4.5 ed epicentro Ragalna, il sindaco del capoluogo etneo Enrico Trantino ha disposto la sospensione delle attività didattiche delle scuole cittadine per motivi precauzionali disponendo verifiche nei plessi scolastici. Pertanto oggi non si svolgeranno lezioni. Lo rende noto il Comune. "Capisco che a quest'ora provocherà tantissimi problemi a molti genitori e sono dispiacutissimo, ma spero comprenderanno che la sicurezza è al primo posto", afferma il primo cittadino. Il dirigente generale della Protezione civile regionale Salvo Cocina ha disposto l'attivazione immediata di un monitoraggio telefonico attraverso il servizio emergenza, al fine di verificare eventuali criticità presso tutti i Comuni nei quali la scossa è stata avvertita.
Crolli a Ragalna, epicentro sisma nel Catanese
Danni nella sede del municipio e crolli parziali in alcuni edifici privati si sono registrati a Ragalna, nel Catanese, cittadina epicentro del terremoto di magnitudo 4.5 che questa mattina ha svegliato la provincia di Catania. Il Comune ha attivato il Coc, il centro di coordinamento comunale presieduto dalla Protezione civile e dal sindaco Nino Caruso. I tecnici comunali hanno predisposto i primi sopralluoghi per verificare l'entità dei danni e la staticità degli edifici.
