Strider LongshanksOn our way back to France via Rosslare, we stopped at Kilmore Quay, allegedly one of the most idyllic small fishing village harbours in Ireland...my eyes rolled in the usual oversell of something that didn't quite match the hype - nice enough though it was. At least now, I have been there, seen it and done it, as the approximation to Julius Caesar's alleged quote goes.
One interesting thing though was the significant number of thatched roof houses on the cottages here, many of which were recently rethatched, or in the process of rethatching, something I hadn't encountered since my childhood in rural #Gloucestershire.
