Today I was discussing with a colleague our #k8s tech stack and it went something like:

"#Prometheus can use a sidecar called #Thanos to put the logs that #Loki captured in an #Amazon clone #s3 storage"

and it occurred to me how absurd this was. A translation:

"The titan, who gave fire to humans, communicates with the god of death to give the fallen trees stolen by the Norse god of mischief to the warrior giantesses to put in their hoarding place."

Is someone here using #Prometheus Remote Write with a #thanos receiver?

I'm having a problem: How to monitor the "success" of the remote write thanos-sided? I don't see a metric like "last successful write from $node", where one could alert upon.

The "scenario" is: Remote Write doesn't work, because of connectivity issues, misconfiguration etc. - but the "local" Prometheus is not reachable, so I need to monitor the absence of writes.

Thanos described Titan’s collapse as “too many people and not enough resources.” But that never added up for me. What if that was never the real cause of Titan’s destruction?
