Testing my 1988 #burrbrown REF200 - this is likely the first time it sees power since it left the factory 🥹 My #eevblog multimeter and my #keithley #sourcemeasureunit agree: 100uA well within the 0.5%.
The metal can TO-99 housing has a special feat though: it’s specified from -55 to 125C, amazing 😃

Heating 100ml water with a 2W resistor based element, how close can I get with the well known heat transfer formula?

As it turns out, quite close, I calculated 1.71W which is 16% off 👌🏻🙂

I’m using my #keithly #sourcemeter as a calibrated supply, so the two #eevblog multimeters, measuring heating element voltage and current, aren’t really needed. They’re mostly there for display and bling, however doing this experiment with a regular bench supply, you would need them 🙂
Multiplying the two measured values gives a quite satisfying result though, you should try it 😃

I’m done with #calorimeter experiments for now, other exiting things are queued up in my little lab 🙂
