Montreal is tightening its telework policy, requiring some 6,000 municipal workers to be in the office at least three days a week starting Sept. 14.

I feel annoyed when coworkers start a teams chat with "you in the office today?" because 1. my calendar is up to date. If it actually mattered, they could just check. And 2. We have all these digital collab tools and 90% of my company isn't in the same office building so it really shouldn't matter. I've yet to run into the problem we couldn't solve with a screen share and a phone call.
But it occurred to me today that 9 times out of 10 this question is probably just someone fishing for an excuse to procrastinate.
