RoboTaxi's in Austin Update.

Tesla is now indicating they will "tentatively" release RoboTaxi's in Austin on June 22 - a Sunday no less. Wonder if that matters? :-)

What is still an unknown (huge) variable is how "teleoperations" - the remote human based operations and monitoring system, a critical safety feature will work. Tesla has positioned this as operators will be “transported into the device’s world using a state-of-the-art VR rig that allows them to remotely perform complex and intricate tasks.”

Sounds like remote driving to me! No is talking - Tesla, Fed Government, City of Austin are all mum on the subject. Hmmmmm. https://www.wired.com/story/as-robotaxi-rides-begin-we-still-dont-know-the-mystery-of-teslas-human-helpers/ #Tesla #Austin #RoboTaxi #teleoperations #Selfdrivingvehicle #NHTSA #RemoteDriving

Engineering household robots to have a little common sense

MIT engineers aim to give robots a bit of common sense when faced with situations that push them off their trained path, so they can self-correct after missteps and carry on with their chores. The team’s method connects robot motion data with the common sense knowledge of large language models, or LLMs.
