I got a couple of "lines" going with a local community tech/telco project called TeleHamster.
They're a private VoIP network specifically for my geographic area. You buy an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) with a 4-digit phone number and use old school telephones to call others on the network.
I had the hair-brained idea to connect an analog modem to the works. I'm using mgetty to present choices to the caller, including connecting to a BBS running Mystic BBS software.
