Every couple of years I go thru a techno music thing. I don't really like techno, because it all sounds the same to me. I listen to albums of techno DJs hear something different and look at the track listing to see what it's called, but it's really the 5th song. I like the energy, tho. There are times where I'm going thru something where I just need loud thumping to keep my thought process from ossifying.
My head is in one of those places right now, and I've been getting my techno fix via YouTube. Concerts are a much much better way to listen to techno, IMHO. Even if I don't watch them. But I do watch them some, and I've got a question about techno DJs on stage at a concert:
Is being a DJ performing in a concert just an act? Is any of the button pushing, knob twiddling, and platter spinning, real? The whole thing is on computers and syncs with the light show, so I don't think it should be required at all. Am I wrong?
