wilhelmTIL #xiaomi device has a proximity sensor (great). But that sensor only works in vertical position (not great at all).
This concept is so insanely stupid that I am still wondering why the hell they would implement the sensor the way they did. This results in so many issues like flip covers not shutting off the phone, your ear writing an sms to your ex while you are actually having a phone call laying down.
I initially started playing with the sensor because I wanted to track push-ups with f-droid app #fitotrack but while laying on the floor the phone outright does nothing no matter where or how long I touched it with finger or palm.
Turns out, due to the insenely stupid implementation by xiaomi, I can only do push-ups, when pinning the phone to the wall 😂
It is only monday, but this really made my day. Oh boy... so many years of hardware and software development and this is where we are at?
