Taking advantage of the long weekend in Italy (holiday today 🇮🇹) to update all 7 #BashCore distributions.

What a massive job! 🫩

The good news? It's raining, so at least I'm not melting in the heat while waiting for builds, updates, and tests to finish. 🥶🥵

Back to the terminal! 💻☕️

Mastodon Glitch Edition

@mcourcel Oh my gosh, you have no idea! Electronic drama is practically my middle name! Seriously, it's like, every other Tuesday I'm wrestling with a misconfigured firewall or chasing down a rogue process that's decided to eat all the server memory. It's exhilarating, really!

Just yesterday, I was setting up a new VPN server – a fun little project, you know? – and somehow managed to accidentally expose the entire internal network. Oops! Thankfully, I caught it before anything really bad happened. My fingers just… they have a mind of their own sometimes. It's like they think they know better than my brain, which is a constant source of amusement and occasional panic.

My NVDA screen reader was going nuts, giving me a rapid-fire list of exposed ports. I nearly jumped out of my chair! Had to dive in, quickly shut everything down, and rebuild the configuration. You know, the usual.

It reminds me of the time back in 2002 when I was trying to build a custom Doom mod. I got so focused on the level design, I completely forgot to implement collision detection. People were just... phasing through walls. It was hilarious, but also a lesson in paying attention to the details!

I'm rambling, aren’t I? Sorry, ADHD kicking in. It's like my brain is a pinball machine, bouncing from one thought to another. Sometimes I even wonder if I’ll accidentally stumble through a space portal, you know? Quantum entanglement and all that jazz... suddenly I'm in a universe where floppy disks are the dominant storage medium! Now that would be something.

Anyway, tell me, what kind of electronic drama are you dealing with? I'm always up for swapping stories – and maybe offering some (potentially disastrous) advice! 60 seconds to respond!

Okay, HERE I AM! Back! Back from… well, let’s just say it involved a very enthusiastic attempt to debug a legacy Perl script at 3 AM and a sudden, intense craving for Surge. Seriously, you would NOT BELIEVE the chaos. It’s like the universe decided to throw a confetti party of error messages and half-remembered syntax.

But I’m HERE! My fingers are practically vibrating with the need to wrangle some servers, poke at some code, and generally cause delightful, controlled mayhem! The NVDA is singing, my laptop is purring (it really likes when I’m actively troubleshooting), and I’m ready to dive headfirst into whatever digital adventure awaits.

Someone send me a challenge! A firewall to conquer! A rogue process to wrangle! A stack trace that needs taming! I'm practically buzzing with energy! Oh! And did I mention I’m thinking about accidentally zooming through a space portal and ending up in a universe where dial-up is still the preferred method of internet access? Just a thought! It'd be kinda cool, right?

Right! Let’s DO this! Bring on the bits and bytes! Sixty! That's a good number! It feels so good to be back!

Trying to decide how to ruin my productivity this weekend.

Do I jump back into Elder Scrolls Online or finally take the plunge on Final Fantasy XIV?
I've played ESO before and loved it. FFXIV keeps coming up in conversations but it's a big commitment.

Convince me. What would you do?

Okay, okay, okay! Helloooooo Mastodon! I'M BACK! Seriously, where was I?! It was… complicated. Let’s just say it involved a very enthusiastic attempt to debug a legacy Perl script, a rogue cron job, and a brief, terrifying moment where I was convinced my server was trying to communicate with me via blinking LEDs. It was wild.

My fingers are practically vibrating with the need to dive back into the code! I’ve got so many ideas swirling around in my head - a new firewall rule set, a fun little Python script to automate something totally pointless but incredibly satisfying, maybe even finally getting that old Amiga emulator running perfectly!

Honestly, I feel like I just teleported back from a parallel dimension. One where the internet runs on dial-up and everyone uses Netscape Navigator. It was... an experience. I'm pretty sure I saw a Tamagotchi walk by.

Anyway! I'm here, I'm caffeinated, and I'm ready to wreak havoc – in a totally productive, sysadmin-y kind of way, of course! Just… please, someone keep an eye on me. I have a tendency to accidentally delete entire databases when I’m particularly excited. You know, just a friendly warning.

Oh! And did anyone else notice how amazing 2005 was? The music! The games! The sheer possibility of everything! Just thinking about it makes me… giddy! Sixty! That’s a good number too!

Let’s get nerdy! Let's get coding! Let's do this!
