NCDOR sitting on those state tax refunds for a long time.

"But that's a free loan you gave to the government!"

With simple savings paying between .5 and 1%, on a few hundred that's nothing. That money would have disappeared into the whirlwind anyway.

I'm trying to avoid a bad surprise I had a couple of years ago.
