@Bargdaffy@defcon.social @rbreich Other countries have to pay off their government debts why shouldn’t we? #RobertReich also supports #taxingTheRich significantly more (and other progressive policies) so it’s not as if paying down the national debt is necessarily contributing to rising inequality (and ultimately the less interest the US government has to pay the better).

Yep, ultimately our currency is a purely social construct but I don’t think we will be abandoning it anytime too soon
