We have an injured #Tauhou in the garden. One wing appears to be short a few feathers and at the ‘elbow’ joint there is tissue damage. It doesn’t stop it from flying, but it doesn’t fly far.

Earlier this morning when I was replacing one of the feeders it chose to remain on one of the others, within arm’s reach. And just now when doing another top-up it perched on the same branch, within centimetres of my hands. It didn’t seem at all worried. 😌

I just posted an animated gif to #iNaturalist of the hoard of silvereyes (tauhou) that visit our sugar water feeders every morning. So many little sugar junkies.

The #Tauhou were extra hungry this weekend. Today they managed to get through 6 litres of sugar-water!
Trip to the stupormarket ✔️
Now the plan is to remain indoors for the remainder of the day (except for popping out to refill the sugar water feeders) #Tauhou
Most mornings when I put the bird feeder out for the #Tauhou they’re already waiting patiently high up in the tree. This morning one was extra thirsty and attempted to land on the branch before I had the bottle in place. I’m not sure which one of us got the biggest surprise 😆
The resident #Tauhou got through 3 litres of sugar water yesterday and are already onto their second 1litre refill today!
Usually I can't get close enough to our resident #Tauhou to take a photo but this afternoon they perched in the lemon tree right outside the kitchen window. 😀

A pair of waxeyes showed up!

Definitely glad to see them, was worried they'd been scared off for good by a bunch of habitat getting cut down for urban development. One was shooing away the sparrows despite being a much littler guy.

Four #tauhou (two pairs) at the feeder. They were trying to scare each other off, despite there being sufficient food for everyone.

The 25mm cage around the feeder stops sparrows from stealing the delicious food.
