Captive (rescue) platypus in a tank, swimming.

This active female platypus was busy swimming around the tank, diving to the bottom to look for worms, etc.
Not the best of shots, low light, shooting through wet glass, but they look ok, and she was fascinating to watch.

While on Bruny Island, we found a second echidna (this one was on the side of the road towards the north end of the island).

There was nowhere safe to stop, so this is shot from within the car, poking the camera out the window.

Photo locations give a good idea of where we went. The two with yellow markers are photo locations, and the map with pink markers are iNaturalist sighting locations.

Now that we're home, some scary stats from the journey:

โ€จ#tassie2023 โ€จโ€จ

Over the 4 weeks I took 3,169 photos.

We travelled approx โ€จ8,339km by car (ferries, etc not counted)

and spent $2,352 on fuel.

On the last day in Tasmania, we went platypus hunting again, this time at the Tasmanian Arboretum which is known to have platypus in their lake. Apparently there are 5 or 6 in there, but we only saw 2, however, the two we saw had a bit of a fight right in front of us.
In 2 of these shots you can see the chase before the fight, and the other two are of the platypus that was chased before it all happened.
