Well done Victoria & Tasmania. Big yay also to Queensland which after trialing 50c fares in 2024 decided to make them permanent.

This is what governance looks like.

Contrast Albanese following the #Scott🤡 strategy of ‘we’ll use taxpayer money to underwrite any losses experienced by corporate profiteers’.

Shame on you.

Who do our elected representatives exist to serve? #FollowTheMoney

Victorians and Tasmanians get free public transport as state governments seek to ease surge in fuel demand

Allan government says measure is temporary as energy shock from Middle East conflict sees petrol prices soar

Text message from a candidate in the upcoming Upper House election in #Tasmania, and my reply.

First the government opened the borders; let it rip, told us to live with it, and now they're taking free RATs away from those who can least afford it. The affordable RAT option from pharmacies that they mention - $7.99 for a single.

It's lot to pay when you are already stretching your budget to afford fuel to get to your job and food for basic survival.

Not to mention going into a pharmacy where there's a nice old dear topping up her angina medication where she'll probably get infected. Though I guess most people do that anyway 🫩

Good news at last. Though, the govt washed its hands off the issue by letting the regulatory body deal with it. Another example of #AlboPM’s timidity where controversy arises or electoral success is threatened. Less ‘politics’ and more progressive policy decision Albo!

Antibiotic licence for salmon farming revoked over 'unacceptable risk'

The use of florfenicol in Tasmania's salmon industry has been banned as the country's veterinary medicine regulator suspends an emergency licence for the antibiotic.

To be clear, this debt alone means that every one of the State’s inhabitants owes a $12,000 share of of an UNFUNDED liability that the Tasmanian Government has let accumulate, for the benefit of only senior public servants and politicians.
Nothing to see here that is of concern except the minor issue of people with power looking after their own. 😠

Abetz to consider slashing high-earner public servant retirement payments

The Tasmanian government is considering reducing the superannuation given to high-earning public servants as a way of reining in its $7 billion unfunded superannuation liability, the ABC understands.

When will this nonsense about an extraordinarily expensive (and unnecessary) #Stadium being better for #Tasmania than addressing our chronic health and education failings?

Issue of how to power Hobart stadium not yet solved, as deadlines approach

Major upgrades to Hobart's power grid to supply the Macquarie Point stadium are yet to be finalised or costed, with the final estimate for the precinct's energy demand increasing by almost 50 per cent in a year.

Some South Australian school classrooms are 'literally falling apart'

Almost two years after a state government report revealed 35 per cent of all buildings within the Department for Education's portfolio were past their design life, many schools are still plagued with issues including mould, asbestos and rotting windows.
