DRUG GANG BUSTED: Swansea man jailed as cocaine network smashed in £multi-area operation

A Swansea man has been jailed for his role in a major organised crime gang that pumped drugs into communities across south Wales.

Bradley Williams, 38, from Swansea, was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug offences.

He was part of a wider network supplying cocaine, cannabis and ketamine across the region — in what police described as a large-scale operation causing “misery and harm” to local communities.

The gang was brought down following a major investigation led by Tarian, the regional organised crime unit for southern Wales.

Major operation targets drug network

The investigation — known as Operation Allegro — targeted a sophisticated drugs network operating across south Wales and into southwest England.

Officers worked alongside Gwent Police and Gloucestershire Constabulary to dismantle the group, which was led by Gloucestershire-based Danny Tomlin.

The gang was responsible for supplying wholesale quantities of Class A drugs, including cocaine, as well as cannabis to a wide customer base.

Their operation stretched into communities across Swansea Bay and beyond.

Swansea link to wider criminal network

Williams played a key role in the network, admitting conspiracy to supply cannabis, offering to supply cocaine and ketamine, and possession of criminal property.

His involvement highlights how organised crime networks often rely on local figures to distribute drugs into towns and communities across the region.

Police say these operations fuel wider issues including addiction, violence and exploitation.

Cannabis factories uncovered

As part of the investigation, officers uncovered two sophisticated cannabis factories hidden inside residential properties.

The sites — located in Blackwood and Trebanog — were being used to produce large quantities of cannabis for distribution.

The discovery underlined the scale and organisation of the gang’s activities.

Early morning raids bring gang down

The network was dismantled following coordinated police raids across multiple locations in July 2025.

Officers executed a series of warrants over two days, arresting those involved and gathering key evidence.

Seven of the nine defendants later admitted their roles before or during trial.

Gang leader handed longest sentence

At Cardiff Crown Court, gang leader Danny Tomlin was jailed for 10 years and 10 months after admitting conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis, as well as cultivating cannabis.

Other key members from Newport and Gloucestershire received sentences ranging from several months to six years.

In total, the nine members of the group were handed combined sentences of more than 43 years behind bars.

Police: ‘Misery and harm’ caused to communities

Detective Inspector Vinnie Easton said the group had been driven by profit at the expense of local people.

He said: “This was a large-scale, complex investigation into an organised crime group who sought to profit from the misery and harm they brought to our communities.”

He added that the sentences should reassure the public that action is being taken against drug supply networks.

While the gang operated across multiple areas, cases like this highlight the impact organised crime has on communities in Swansea and across the wider region.

Police say tackling drug supply remains a priority, with networks like this often linked to wider criminal activity.

The pair were under surveillance on 9 June 2024 when officers watched 50-year-old Lee Ruggles and 21-year-old Kian Piyadasa carry out a handover between two vehicles. Ruggles, from Barking in east London, was seen leaving his Ford Focus and passing a package through the window of a BMW driven by Piyadasa, of Birchgrove, Swansea.

Minutes later, both men were stopped — Ruggles on the M4 heading east, and Piyadasa in Swansea. Inside the Ford Focus and a third vehicle linked to Piyadasa, officers uncovered significant quantities of cocaine. Piyadasa also had a zip lock bag of the drug on him.

Mobile phone downloads revealed messages between the two consistent with large-scale drug supply.

Heavy prison sentences handed down

Both men admitted conspiring to supply Class A drugs and were sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on Friday 8 August 2025.

• Lee Ruggles, 50, was jailed for 9 years and 9 months.
• Kian Piyadasa, 21, received 10 years and 8 months.

A spokesperson for Tarian, the regional specialist organised crime unit said:

“These men were making serious money from the misery of others. Their sentences should send a clear message — if you’re involved in drug trafficking, we will find you, stop you, and put you before the courts.”

Part of wider crackdown across southern Wales

The case is the latest in a string of major drug busts across southern Wales, where specialist officers have dismantled multiple organised crime groups. Recent operations have led to dozens of convictions and prison sentences totalling more than 140 years.

Investigations continue in partnership with UK forces and the National Crime Agency, targeting those profiting from Class A drug supply.

Maesteg man jailed for manufacturing and selling poisonous diet pills

DNP, which stands for 2,4-Dinitrophenol, is an industrial chemical that has been illegally sold as a diet pill for weight loss. DNP is poisonous to humans and has been banned for human consumption in the United Kingdom. It can cause death, as well as other serious physical side effects.  

Kyle Enos, 33, was arrested by officers from Tarian, the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) for southern Wales, in July 2024 after information was received from the National Crime Agency (NCA).  

Enos was found to have purchased the pure form sodium salt of 2,4-Dinitrophenol powder from China via the Dark Web. He then manufactured the pills using cutting agents and a pill press in his bedroom. He advertised the pills, and other regulated medications, on a website he had created. Enos would receive orders via email and ship the products, disguised as vitamins and minerals, both domestically within the UK and internationally.  

A previous conviction for the supply of Fentanyl, a Class A drug, meant that Enos had breached a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) through his continued offending.  

Enos was charged with multiple drug offences and pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates Court on May 1 this year.  

He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court today (May 29) to 36 months imprisonment.

Detective Constable Kieran Morris, of Tarian ROCU, said: “Operation Guazuma was a proactive partnership investigation with the NCA, the National Food Crime Unit, the Ministry of Defence, HM Prison and Probation Service, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority, and South Wales Police.  

“The swift arrest of Enos and the removal of these poisonous diet pills from the open market was our utmost priority. Enos was supplying the pills with no safety precautions in place, and no advice on dosages. This could have led to buyers becoming extremely ill or even dying.  

“Tarian ROCU are committed to safeguarding members of the public not only within our region, but across the United Kingdom and beyond. The sentence handed down to Enos today should serve as a warning to others engaging in similar criminality.” 

Head of the NCA’s Prisons and Lifetime Management Unit Alison Abbott said:“Serious Crime Prevention Orders are a powerful tool to help prevent those convicted of serious offences continue their criminality when they come out of prison. 

“This case should serve as a warning to others. As we did with Enos, we will actively monitor all those who are subject to such orders, and they will stay on our radar even after they are released from jail. Our work with TARIAN and other partners means he is back behind bars.”

Swansea crime gang jailed for cocaine supply

The men, six from Swansea and one from Coventry, were arrested following an operation by Tarian, the Regional Organised Crime Unit for southern Wales into the supply and distribution of Class A controlled drugs and the laundering of the proceeds of that criminality into and throughout the South Wales region by a Swansea based Organised Crime Group.

Police say that during the course of the investigation, which began in October 2022, evidence was obtained that several members the gang were involved in a conspiracy to supply cocaine, possession of firearms and ammunition and money laundering offences.

The investigation was based on evidence which identified that brothers Ryan Morgan, 32, and Leon Morgan, 27, who had no obvious legitimate forms of employment to maintain their lifestyles, controlled a gang from the Swansea area, which was involved in the supply and distribution of multi-kilogramme quantities of cocaine across the area, having sourced their drugs from the West Midlands.

The gang was in contact with other criminal groups from the Midlands and was noted as travelling to those locations as well as reciprocal journeys for meetings in the Swansea area.

Police say the group used a series of “safe properties” where controlled drugs were stored, prepared and adulterated prior to onward distribution by the group, including the storage of other items used and obtained such as firearms and cash. Each of these premises were only used for a short period of time in order to try to avoid detection.

On July 13, 2023, Nicky Davies, 35, was arrested in the Swansea area while in possession of seven kilogrammes cocaine. He had travelled from Swansea to Coventry where he met co-defendant Gino Shergill.

While there, Davies loaded a car onto recovery vehicle before travelling back to South Wales.

South Wales Police traffic officers subsequently stopped the recovery vehicle in Bonymaen, Swansea.

Prior to Davies’ departure from Swansea there was a series of communications between Leon Morgan, Ryan Morgan, Nicky Davies and Kenny Peters, 44, clearly orchestrating the collection of the seven kilos of cocaine that day.

On November 13, 2023, a warrant was executed at a garage in Brynmill, Swansea where Class A drugs in deals, drug paraphernalia, a hydraulic press and a blender used to prepare and adulterate Class A controlled drugs were located and seized along with a sawn-off shotgun and a bag of ammunition.

On December 6, 2023, Ryan Morgan was arrested after ramming a police vehicle in a Range Rover in the Hafod area of Swansea while trying to avoid arrest and was subsequently arrested along with the other members of the OCG.

During the course of the investigation more than eight kilogrammes of high purity (85%) cocaine with an estimated street value of £500,000, 18 kilos of Benzocaine (cutting agent), a hydraulic press and drug paraphernalia were recovered.

Detective Inspector Vinnie Easton of Tarian said:

“We welcome the sentences given to these men for their roles in selling very significant amounts of Class A drugs in south Wales.

“This thorough investigation uncovered a major drug conspiracy and is a great example of the detailed work carried out to combat organised crime of this nature.

“Illegal drugs have no place in our society, and the offenders in this operation were part of an organised criminal gang who brought harm and misery to our neighbourhoods through the supply of drugs.

“We urge anyone across southern Wales who has information about drug dealing in their communities to contact their local police force or the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The seven members of the OCG appeared before Swansea Crown Court on December 19, 2024.

• Ryan Morgan, 32, from Penlan, Swansea was sentenced to 16 years for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine), 2 years money laundering, 18 months dangerous driving to run concurrent and disqualification from driving 
• Leon Morgan, 27, from Penllegaer, Swansea was sentenced to 10 years conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine), 18 months money laundering
• Thomas Saunders, 23, from Gorseinon was sentenced to 7 years 10 months
• Jack Tomkins. 24, from Clase, Swansea was sentenced to 7 years 1 month
• Kenny Peters, 44, from Swansea was sentenced to 6 years 6 months
• Nicky Davies, 35, from Ravenhill, Swansea was sentenced to 5 years 2 months
• Gino Shergill, 32, from Coventry was sentenced to 5 years 10 months

All were convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine).
