Damn, I've been so busy this week that I completely forgot to post the iconic image of #Tankman stopping a bunch of #PLA tanks on their way to their murderous task.

June 4 1989 will NOT be forgotten.

#TiananmenSquare had been cleared but defiance remained. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1989, the #TankMan photo was taken. As a column of tanks went to move around him, he moved, then later climbed onto it and spoke with the crew, then blocked them again until a group pulled him aside.

Il 4 giugno di 37 anni fa l'esercito cinese irruppe in piazza #Tienanmen travolgendo con i carri armati gli studenti e sparando con i fucili, ponendo fine a una serie di manifestazioni popolari in cui studenti, intellettuali e operai chiedevano riforme e democrazia.
In #Cina è vietato parlarne e non ci sono stime ufficiali del numero dei morti. La CroceRossa riferì di 2600 morti e 30000 feriti. Amnesty stima che almeno un altro migliaio di manifestanti vennero successivamente fucilati.
