It was almost 100° here for a couple of days. Those happened to be two days that we had two guys here fixing a retaining wall for us.
My wife left this cooler out each day for them with cold water and Gatorade. I thought it was a very kind gesture.
Unexpectedly, in turn, they did some extra work they didn’t have to do to make the wall even better.
Thinking about the line, "You can pick your friends but not your family". That may be literally true but the fact is there are a few people I've picked as family and been fortunate enough to have that reciprocated. If you don't like the people you share genetics with find another set. They're out there.
One of my locals does Thanksgiving for staff and their families. They're not all blood related but they look out for each other. From my POV they're an extended family.
