The emperor and the shogun: A power struggle across the centuries

For imperial loyalists of the late Edo Period, the experiences of Emperor Go-Daigo from five centuries past were an inspiration — and a warning.

The Japan Times

Go-Daigo, whose real name was Takaharu, wanted to make the Empire in Japan great again. He looked down on other royal members who lived dependent on the warrior government. Soon he had begun to conflict against Kamakura, and he spreaded the war to the whole countryside.

People who first met Emperor Go-Daigo were forced to be charmed by him. However, he didn't swing swords on himself. He just outsourced that to armed groups other the bakufu, for example, pirates, or armed monks and marchants. They wanted to change the power valances of the country.

Japanese governance to the coastal lines between the Chinese continent had been lost by the civil war, and Japanese pirates attacked towns and peoples in Korea and the coastal area of China.

I realized such a medieval scene now.
