My RedDoorz escape: Getting lost in Silang, Cavite, Philippines

RedDoorz helped me escape from the noisy and busy city from August 15-16, 2019.

Working as a freelance blogger, scriptwriter and actor in Metro Manila, Philippines could be exhausting. This was why when RedDoorz offered me a chance to escape from my hectic schedule in the metro, especially during rainy days, I easily said yes. The budget hotel startup offered an overnight stay in a list of hotels in Metro Manila and in Cavite and in Pampanga.

Automatically, I ruled out Metro Manila because it would not be an escape if it was in the same place I currently reside in. I lived in Pampanga from 2012 to 2013 so I chose Cavite instead.

It was not my first time to visit Cavite but I was not very familiar with the place. I enjoy going to such places, asking directions from the locals.

The RedDoorz Philippines staff booked a room for me, which was available from 2:00 p.m. of August 15, 2019 to 12:00 p.m. of August 16, 2019, at the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel at Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road in Silang, Cavite, which is a few-minute ride away from Tagaytay City.

Reaching my destination without the help of technology is very rewarding. It is amazing how nice strangers are as they spare some time to help you get the information that you need without asking for anything in return.

On August 15, 2019, I left Pasay City, Metro Manila at 12:30 p.m. and reached Silang after 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus. Unfortunately, the bus conductor dropped at the wrong place and I had to ride two jeepneys and walk around 3 kilometers to reach the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel plus another 100-meter walk from the gate to the reception area.

At 5:30 p.m., I reached the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel at 5:30 p.m. Although I felt very tired, three hours and 30 minutes were shaved off my stay in the hotel so I tried to extend my waking hours and reduced my time to sleep, something I can do at home.

It was rainy in Metro Manila while the weather in Silang was as awesome as the kind locals there. It was a perfect time and perfect place to take a break even just for one day and one night.

Recently, I got rid of 3-in-1 coffee, 8 lbs and toxic people. I felt light and free as I escaped from the noise and rain in the metro without spending much.

Thanks to RedDoorz for helping me do all these. You deserve to escape, too.

A short public announcement from yours truly, a concerned citizen. There's a foreigner who identified himself as #Thai, roaming around Washington Sycip Park & immediate area in #Makati #Philippines , asking for a fare to #Tagaytay .

He's suspicious because after I gently apologized that I can't help & I was about to suggest to go to the #Thailand embassy, he quickly left. I already reported it to the security in the area.

If there are foreigners stranded for whatever reason, direct them to their embassy or the local authorities. Don't give them money, & don't go with them if they keep on walking. Also look around you.

It's fine to assist foreigners, but don't forget your own safety & security. Not because we're in our own land does it mean we have the advantage.

Did ‘Somebody Feed Phil’ in Manila? Govt execs mum | Ma. Stella F. Arnaldo

THE Department of Tourism (DOT) apparently did. The affable Phil Rosenthal, host of the popular Netflix series “Somebody Feed Phil,” was in the city recently, and had lunch at the DOT office in Makati, with Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, and other heads of the DOT attached agencies. IN the last few years, #Tagaytay has also become a well-known food destination, beyond the ROADSIDE #restaurants.... Popular chefs, partnered with young Filipino investors or hotels, have established their own restaurants along the ridge or in nearby Silang, Cavite, offering guests a variety of cuisines and dishes that appeal to a wider range of palates and sophisticated tastebuds.#food #foodtourism #travel #tourism #Philippines

What to eat, where to go in Tagaytay | Ma. Stella F. Arnaldo

TAGAYTAY dominates as a tourism destination in the Philippines, having attracted over 1 million domestic visitors last year. It can’t be helped, I suppose. The sight of the jagged crater of Taal Volcano partially submerged in a placid lake, with low-lying clouds drifting close to it, has remained alluring to…
