@nature A stunner for #FlyDay #InsectFriday My feeling was that it reminded me of #tachinid flies, though not the type I usually see

pics in collage in main post, continued.
Top centre, smallish #dragonfly possible Cherry-faced Meadowhawk Sympetrum internum or similar.
Bottom left a cool waspbigger than yellowjackets, for scale, on a garden raspberry leaf.
Centre leafcutter bee approaching onion flowers.
Right a cool #Tachinid #fly probably Archytas genus. parasitic on other insects like other tachinids, but also spending time nectaring. My first year seeing them, and these were my closest photos!
photos in collage main post above:
top left: native Erigeron philadelphicus in a rock garden (I try to pull before they seed, which they do very quickly! as they are over eager seeders!); right: from the foothills/mountains west of here, Eurybia sibirica, in the garden, with a cool #Tachinid fly.
Centre left: local native Geranium richardsonii which has found abundant home (by itself) in the gardens, always tons of them, though I have to pull mounds! Centre: Geranium sanguineum album in shade

An interesting catch - a Tachinid fly (probably a Gonia species) on Persian speedwell, some weeks ago in the Apuan alps. One forgets that many flies are pollinators as well.
