The #T9000 #transputer also ran internally on something not entirely unlike a four-phase clock.

A senior manager once asked me if we could advertise it as effectively running at 4x the clock rate. I said not. The product failed... but probably not for that reason! (Intel were shipping higher clocks.)

We were I think supposed to be targetting 50MHz, had already dropped to 30MHz and were failing even to get there.

In fact, at 10MHz the PLL was so wobbly it caused extra trouble.
