Matthew 🖖So maybe someone on fedi can help me here, but after updating my #ThinkPad #T14 #BIOS to 1.17, #fedora can no longer #suspend normally and freezes and requires a hard power-off each time. I tried some #grub stuff, many suggested fixes I found on the internet and a newer kernel (6.18 instead of 6.17) but nothing worked. So I think it may be a #Lenovo issue.

Everything is the way I want it set. It has taken a lot of time and work to get it exactly the way I want it. I am happy.

Top right: My laptop, a Thinkpad T14 Gen 1, also running Debian 13 stable with Cinnamon DE.
Bottom left: My Homelab server, a HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF, running Proxmox 9 (headless).
Bottom right: VM in the Proxmox server running Debian 13 stable (headless). This system runs the majority of my Docker services.
There is another VM for Home Assistant OS in the Proxmox server, too. I also maintain other computers that are not mine.

I am now on Cinnamon on Debian 13 (stable) with my laptop. It reminds me of when I first started on Linux Mint when switching from Windows.

Jörg 🇩🇪🇬🇧🇪🇺Endlich habe ich daran gedacht mir im hiesigen Mediamarkt die Laptops anzuschauen um die Entscheidung zu treffen, ob ich mir einen 14" oder 15,6" kaufe. Zum Glück hatten sie beide Varianten nebeneinander stehen.
Ein ganz schöner Unterschied. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, das 15,6" so ausladend ist. Der ist zu groß um ihn immer mitzunehmen.
Entschieden ist:
Lenovo ThinkPad 14", 16GB RAM und 512GB SSD. Und es kommt #Linux drauf
HegelMein 3-Jähriger #Lenovo #T14 mit Windows hat idle eine Akkulaufzeit von 4h und wird schön warm. Der 6-jährige Lenovo #X1Carbon mit #PopOS #Linux hat bei Büroarbeiten immer noch eine Akkulaufzeit von 6h und bleibt schön kühl. Dito der 5-jährige T14. Die Linuxer bleiben auch schön ruhig, während der Windowsler häufig föhnt. Hauptursache für die Last unter Windows scheinen Teams, Outlook und Defender zu sein. Unter Linux scheinen diese Plagen ruhiger zu sein.
